Interior Design concepts for Stena Line
As a design consultant for Stena Line, I provided both creative and strategic input to improve the design and atmosphere of on-board passenger spaces.
My role combined spatial and acoustic design with the development of custom visual elements, ensuring that aesthetic choices aligned with Stena Line’s brand identity while enhancing overall passenger comfort and experience.
Projects included: Hook of Holland (NL) – Harwich (UK): Designed a custom vinyl-cut wall pattern, developed image content fitting the lounge’s concept, and advised on acoustic and spatial improvements for the Plus Lounge and surrounding areas.
Belfast (UK) – Cairnryan (UK): Created a series of bespoke art prints integrated into the Plus Lounge design, alongside custom wall graphics and design adjustments, combining consultation and implementation to elevate the space’s atmosphere.

Site-Specific Wall Print Design for Stena Line: Riva Bar
Concept and design by Hannes Arvid Andersson
Commissioned by Stena Line in 2024 and implemented in February 2025, this site-specific wall print design was created for the Riva Bar onboard the sister ships Stena Hollandica and Stena Britannia. These vessels operate on the route between Hook of Holland, Netherlands, and Harwich, United Kingdom.
The design concept was developed to seamlessly integrate with the Riva Bar's aesthetic, which draws inspiration from the iconic 1950s Italian motorboat, Riva, designed by Carlo Riva. Reflecting the luxury, elegance, and craftsmanship of these legendary boats, the artwork enhances the bar's ambiance while paying homage to a rich maritime heritage.
The Legacy of Riva
Founded in 1842 in Sarnico, Italy, Riva is one of the world’s most renowned shipyards. Established by Pietro Riva, the company first gained recognition when he successfully restored boats damaged in a severe storm. Over time, Riva became synonymous with exceptional craftsmanship and performance.
In 1921, Serafino Riva launched a pioneering racing boat with an outboard motor—the first to exceed 24 km/h—leading to numerous victories in both domestic and international competitions. Alongside racing boats, Riva also produced luxurious pleasure boats, admired for their high-quality construction, refined aesthetics, and unparalleled elegance.
During the 1950s, Carlo Riva carried this legacy forward, establishing Riva as a symbol of prestige and sophistication. The brand became a favorite among European royalty, celebrities, actors, sports champions, and other high-profile figures, cementing its legendary status in the world of luxury boating.
